Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Collection Drive

Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Collection Drive

Have you ever wondered if there was a better way of disposing of your old, unwanted electronics other than tossing them in the landfill?

Answer: Yes there is.

From 9 AM TO 4 PM on March 2, the sustainability office and recycling office will host an E-Waste Collection Drive at Lot 5A.

Here are the top three reasons why bringing us your electronics is better than the landfill:

  1. Any data that may be on your electronics will be destroyed securely.
  2. Computer equipment that can be refurbished will be refurbished and given to needing families.
  3. Items can contain hazardous elements (lead, arsenic, mercury). We stop this from entering the environment.

This event is being held in support of the University’s participation in the Recyclemania competition. The goal of this competition is to reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill and increase the amount of waste that gets recycled.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding any item you may want to drop off, please contact Tyler Sytsma at 704-687-0606 or by email at tsytsma@uncc.edu.
