Please join us for a documentary film screening of When I Walk about filmmaker Jason DaSilva's life and his emotional and inspiring 6-year journey following his multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Specific attention is given to overcoming health care barriers and addressing service needs for persons with MS, along with a review of an innovative free app he developed in partnership with technology experts to identify real-time physical barriers in several cities. It is free and open to the public. This film provides information that impacts persons living with MS, including access to educational and work opportunities, and physical barriers/accessibility issues.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion (7:30-8 p.m.) including persons with MS, health care providers, social workers and MS organizational representatives (e.g., National MS Society). Resources and information about MS will be available.

Hosts: Suzanne Boyd, Associate Professor of Social Work, and Shelby Veri, 2nd-year Health Services Research doctoral student .

Local vendors have donated over 60 items for a drawing for those attendees who complete a short event evaluation form. Representatives from the Greater Carolinas National MS Society are hosting tables with local information and MS community resources.

This film is generously funded by the Chancellor's Diversity Mini-Grant Challenge Fund and co-sponsored by GPSG and the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Team Hoover. (CEU digital certificates can be provided upon request.)
