Learn more about the global diversiy within Islam by joining the Office of International Programs and the UNC Charlotte Department of Religious Studies for a lecture by Dr. Hadia Mubarak, assistant professor of Religious Studies at Guilford College.

Shattering the notion of a monolithic Islam, Mubarak explores the inherent pluralism of the classical Islamic tradition and contemporary Muslim practices. How do living communities practice and celebrate Islam? Examining texts, interpretations and data polling, we will examine the global diversity of Muslim practices and beliefs on a range of issues, including women and gender, violence and religious pluralism.
