Earth tongues, devil’s urns, dead-man’s fingers, witches butter, fairy rings, puffballs, birds’ nest fungi, and more! Dr. M will demystify the fungus among us. Students will learn about the basic biology (including reproductive cycle) and groups of fungi, as well as common shapes found in our native areas. Students will learn to identify common mushrooms and other large woodland fungi. This class will include both instruction in the classroom and the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens.
This class is worth 6 credits towards our Certificate in Native Plant Studies and is also open to the public.
