We are excited to bring back the annual tradition of New Student Convocation in person this fall on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.! All students from the class of 2024 (sophomores), our incoming class of 2025 (freshmen), and new transfer students are invited. New Student Convocation is a day dedicated to welcome and introduce new undergraduate students to UNC Charlotte and learn what it means to be a 49er. During the event, you will be presented with Niner traditions, the Noble Niner Honor Code, a faculty keynote address, and a performance by the Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band.
All new undergraduate students are required to attend New Student Convocation. This is an opportunity for incoming students to come together for your first official university event!
WHAT DO I WEAR?
New incoming students will pick up a t-shirt at Halton Arena on Sunday, Aug. 22 from 5-5:50 p.m. in the Student Activity Center (SAC).
If you miss the event you may pick up your t-shirt Monday morning after 8:00am at the UCAE office in Colvard 2300.
On Sunday, wear your shirt, dress casually, and wear comfortable shoes.
WHERE DO I GO?
Report to the James H. Barnhardt Student Activity Center (SAC) at 5 p.m. to pick up your t-shirt. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
WHAT DO I DO?
Wear your New Student Convocation t-shirt and show up on time!
The New Student Convocation Ceremony is attended by faculty and students to officially welcome and induct new undergraduate students into the UNC Charlotte community of learners.
Doors open at 5:00 pm. The ceremony will be held from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
During the ceremony, you will learn about UNC Charlotte’s history, mission, values, and academic expectations.
Just as graduation marks the completion of a course of study, New Student Convocation marks the beginning of the new students’ academic journey at UNC Charlotte.
