Queer Year 1 Meeting

Hello there! The Office of Identity, Equity, and Engagement is so excited that you want to be a part of Queer Year 1!

Queer Year 1 (QY1) is a bi-weekly cohort-based program that engages first-year LGBTQ+ students through community building, intentional dialogue, and connects students to both campus and community resources.

In order to be apart of Queer Year 1, you must complete the form below.

Students who need to attend Queer Year 1 in-person due to not being able to attend a program that discusses LGBTQ+ topics in a virtual format we do have limited spaces on-campus available for students to meet during their cohort's meeting time. Students who need the in-person option must follow university guidelines including wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. If this is an option that you need please indicate that on the form below.

As we prepare for a new school year that will be different than all others our goal is to provide our Queer Year 1 students with an experience that fosters connection not only between cohort members but also the Office of Identity, Equity, and Engagement. If you have any questions please contact Graduate Assistant, Ashley O’Bruba (she/her) at aobruba@uncc.edu or Assistant Director for Sexual & Gender Diversity, Chelsea Ortiz (she/her) at cortiz13@uncc.edu.
