Street Apologetics

1 Peter 3:15 reads "Always be prepared to give a defense to anyone who asks for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet with gentleness and respect."

The Greek word here used for "give a defense" is apologia — where we get our word apologetics. So we're going to be walking around campus, engaging people in conversation to make the case for Christianity. People have honest questions and objections to Christianity and we want to hear them. Our goal is to answer those questions, respond to objections, engage in friendly debate and show the character of Christ. Our methods do not include picket signs, shouting, and disrespectful rhetoric. The Bible instructs us to be gentle and respectful so that's exactly how we do things. We're here to speak truth but to do it lovingly.

If you have no experience with apologetics or Ratio Christi, don't worry! Nobody is disqualified from participating. Nobody is required to speak or do anything that makes them uncomfortable. Don't let it intimidate you. Most beginners start out as spectators. You can learn a lot this way!

We will be meeting Wednesday, February 12th, at 6:00 pm in the rotunda area of the Student Union. Let us know you're coming so we have an idea of how many people we'll have. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. See you then!
