Inaugural North Carolina State Representative Beverly Earle Health Disparities Distinguished Lecture: Advancing Science, Policy, & Practice

The distinguished lecture will be an annual free event that involves community engagement and outreach activities that promotes diversity, increases awareness on health disparities in the community, and mobilizes students, academics, and community members to take action for change.  The theme for the event is: Health Policy, Economics, and Minority Health: Reducing Health Disparities by Addressing the Social Determinants of Health: The Mecklenburg County Experience.  The event includes a poster session and an expert panel discussion with the following participants: Mrs. Beverly Earle - North Carolina State Representative, Dr. Judy Cornelius – Associate Professor UNCC, Dr. Diana Rowan – Associate Professor UNCC, Mrs. Cheryl Emmanuel – Mecklenburg County Health Department Community Health Administrator, and Mrs. Ursula Douglas – Nurse-Family Partnership Program Manager-Care Ring.  This is a co-sponsored event with the Social Work Club and the Association of Nursing Students and those organizations will provide health screenings and fitness education
