The relationship between sex and religion is one that has been particularly contentious.
Sex Week seeks to explore this relationship through a panel on religion and sex. We hope to discuss different religious views on subjects such as sex and marriage, sexual education and contraception (among many other topics).
We would like to have representation from a number of different religions throughout the Charlotte area and hope to foster respectful conversation about these topics between them.
The moderator for this panel will be Dr. Kent Brintnall, affiliate faculty member of the Women’s and Gender Studies program. His research largely focuses on the relationship between religion and sexuality. Current confirmed panelists include Bishop Tonyia M. Rawls (Sacred Souls Community Church), Dr. Barbara Thiede (Religious Studies Department, Jewish Studies) and Rebekah Visko (Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte).
Sex Week is committed to creating a panel with diverse views. If you know a faith organization that would be interested in speaking at this event, please send their information our way.
